DATUMIZE
The advent of Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities and ubiquitous data on the edge provides a new opportunity for data capture and processing, activities that are expected to happen outside of the data center and cloud.
In order to differentiate and gain competitive advantage, key industrial players are beginning to expect faster computing capabilities, interoperability, compute flexibility, and dialed-up operational efficiency.
EDGE COMPUTING
Datumize Data Collector (DDC) is a multi-platform and lightweight middleware used to capture and compute data that is trapped inside edge machines, devices and appliances from complex, often transient and/or legacy data sources. This kind of data ends up being mostly unexplored as there are no easy and convenient methods of access.
DDC provides low cost and non-intrusive technology for data capture — polling, network sniffing and deep packet inspection, and edge computing — scripted business logic in Python or JavaScript, endpoint management and 3rd party software bundling (libraries, configuration or containers), enabling advanced data integration, AI or 5G use cases.
Moving outside the comfort of the data center or cloud introduces significant opportunities for edge data capture and computation

CLIENT STORIES
KPN, market leader in the Netherlands, is a leading telecommunications and IT provider. With fixed and mobile networks for telephony, data and television, KPN focuses on both private customers and businesses.
Datumize expertise in data capture and edge computing was a compelling value proposition for KPN to engage in multiple pilots in its 5G lab located in Eindhoven. The end-goal of this engagement was twofold: on one hand, build B2B cross-industry use cases to create digital services such as smart maintenance; on the other hand, leverage KPN’s 5G network infrastructure investment and be able to monetize, mainly by offering targeted B2B services.
Datumize has been able so far to integrate successfully, in record time, into KPN’’s Data Services Hub (DSH). DSH is a platform-as-a-service for real-time information exchange, aimed at supporting digital projects with data. Additionally, Datumize core data capture technology has been effectively deployed in the compute infrastructure available at 5G substation nodes. The most appreciated features of Datumize’s product for this highly-demanding environment are the ability to operate remotely and deploy any data integration pipeline to serve multiple purposes of data capture, edge computation and ingestion into DSH.
